Megan Horjus' Boerenkool

Boerenkool is a traditional Dutch dish that I grew up eating, made be either my Mother or my Oma. This stamppot dish consists of potatoes, vegetables, pan gravy and smoked sausage. I hope you enjoy my version of a Dutch Classic!

 

Andrew Carpenter's Bacon Jam

This bacon jam is great to make ahead of time. It is great as a spread with some cheese on a cracker or on a sandwich. Personally, my favorite use is on a grilled cheese sandwich. For a little bit leaner version smoked pork loin can be substituted.

Salt pork with milk gravy is a dish my grandmother makes for family gatherings. She raised three sons, all with huge appetites, who needed hearty and filling meals. This was always a favorite for all of her grandsons as well.
